I think you are right on track. It's hard because, from my experience, people are not really willing to rehash it all. Most are afraid to approach basic doctrines critically. Others simply don't care because they believe what they are doing is working.
It's also difficult because of the "troublemaker" perception that results from insisting in having these discussions.
It's frustrating to no end. I wonder if there is a good way to approach the reform of contemporary theology without looking like a heretic...
